What is raw feeding?

In the world of pet food, you certainly have a lot of options at your disposal.  There’s hundreds of brands of dry kibbles and wet foods available on the commercial dog food market.  But raw feeding has been increasing in momentum and becoming more popular with pet owners every year.  What is raw feeding you ask?  Well, we’re here to explain!

Raw feeding, or the BARF diet (biologically appropriate raw food)  is becoming more popular in the world of pets, as more and more pet owners are concerned with the health, vitality and well being of their dogs and cats.   It’s actually not a new fad, either – in fact throughout most of the domestic dog’s history owners have chosen to feed raw meats and other more natural foods.  Processed dry dog foods and canned foods only became widely available in the United States in the 1930s.

The BARF diet consists of trying to provide dogs with a more natural and evolutionary appropriate diet, made up of whole raw meats, organ meat, and vegetable and fruit contents given in a balance that will provide the animal with adequate fats, proteins and micro nutrients.

Here at k9 Ancestral diet, we strive to make raw feeding easy, and have collaborated alongside verterinarians to formulate our recipies.  Our natural raw foods consist of base meats in either beef, bison, or lamb, and contain excellent nutrition.  Take a look at our raw feeding beef recipe:
